General Notes

The test script below is designed to be general. The goal of using this script is to look for any content that behaves in a way that you do not expect.

If you decide to use the Free Testing portion, you may want to list a set of tasks users may try to accomplish (find a specific image on a timeline, for example).

Do note that you can always contact the Digital Exhibits Committee if you need more testers.

How to use the test script

  • Fill in any variables (noted in bold) with specific examples from your exhibit
  • Consider whether to add more or remove tests based on the content of your site
  • Distribute to testers. Aim for at least 3 people to be involved. You may want to assign testing in specific browsers to testers, based on need as well
  • Each test should go through the steps outline in the test scripts. In the space below each step, they should note any issues or anything unexpected they encountered. In the case of any issues, screenshots should be included if possible
  • For the Free testing portion, testers should describe what their goal was and if they accomplished it as well
