Chicago Municipal Records Guide

Includes correspondence, financial reports, legislative bills, clippings and other materials relative to the Municipal Court of Chicago during the Chief Justiceship of Harry Olson. The collection includes letters (many carbon copies), statistical and financial reports, printed copies of legislative bills, newspaper clippings, etc. There are also letters from judges, bailiffs, other court employees, and from the public pertaining to court policies and operations, specific cases before the court, and judicial conduct.

Harold P. O'Connell was elected Judge of the Municipal Court of Chicago in 1930 and would hold that post until 1954 when he was elected to the Circuit Court of Cook County. The papers include election materials, certificates, clippings, photographs, and a program for his funeral mass held in 1967.

Harry Olson served as the first Chief Justice of the Municipal Court of Chicago from 1906-1930. The papers date from 1906 to 1940, and include biographical, correspondence, and subject files, with correspondence comprising the bulk of the series.
